Coast Guard Leads the Way in the NCR

With two weeks left in the season, Coast Guard Hockey Mid-Atlantic is leading the way in the Maryland Heroes Hockey League (MHHL). Through 18 regular season games, the Coast Guard team has posted a record of 12-4-2, good for first place in the league standings. Contributions have come from all over the lineup and from units across the National Capital Region, including Headquarters, the Coast Guard Yard, Station Washington, and Coast Guard Cyber Command.

The early season schedule presented the team with several tough challenges, including tight contests with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, D.C. Fire Department, Howard County (MD) Fire Department, and defending MHHL champion Maryland State Police. The regular season continues through late February, with the Coast Guard team seeking to hang on to its valuable first-place position for the playoff run set to begin February 16.

The MHHL is an adult hockey league for military, police, fire, and first responder teams from the DC metro area. Established in 2017, the league has strengthened the bonds between hockey players across the region's federal, state, and local public service agencies. Since its creation, the MHHL has grown to 8 teams and has become one of the largest public service hockey leagues on the East Coast. In addition to hockey, the MHHL has done great work in the community, using hockey to raise over $25,000 for local charity organizations.
